PEARL CARE

More delicate than any other gemstone or precious metal, cultured pearls need special care to ensure that they remain clean, bright and lustrous for generations to come.

Pearls are an organic gem and they can be harmed by contact with many chemicals found in perfumes, cosmetics, body oils, hair care products and household cleaners.

Here are some helpful tips for pearl care:

  • Always remember that your pearls should be the last thing you put on when dressing and the first thing you take off when you get home.
  • Pearls should be kept away from hard or sharp jewelry that can scratch them. Pearls are best stored in a soft cloth pouch or a separately lined compartment of a jewelry box.
  • Daily wear can weaken the silk thread on which your pearls are strung. If you wear your pearls often, it is best to have them re-strung at least once a year, making sure that there is an individual knot between each pearl.
